| Thomas Eugene Gough
STRATHAM - Thomas Eugene Gough died November 28, 2024 at home with his family after losing his battle with Cancer.
Born July 21, 1949 in Portsmouth NH, the son of late Harvey Gough and Irma (Tucker) Barbour. Thomas graduated from Oyster River High school, Class of 1968. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War and was as valued member of the 101st Airborne Division.
In 1972, Thomas started his 30 year career with Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, as an Electronics Mechanic Apprentice in shop 67. Due to Thomas’s determination and hard work, he quickly was promoted to Chief Test Engineer for Combat Systems.
In the Summer of 1976, Thomas married Joan. In July 2024, the couple celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Thomas enjoyed spending countless hours working with wood, both in his shop and clearing of old brush. He created many structures, tables, and cabinets using his vast knowledge of construction. Thomas was always available to help others in need. During the winter months he enjoyed getting on his tractor and clearing snow from all the neighbors’ driveways.
Thomas is survived by his wife Joan, of Stratham and their sons Nicholas Gough and his wife Vicky of Revere MA and Andrew Gough and his Wife Dayna of Dover NH. As well as his four grandchildren Sofia, Abby, Emery, and Nolan.
