Gary Palmer Bradford

MADBURY - It is with heavy hearts that we have to post that we lost our brother, son, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Gary Bradford, to cancer on Monday, October 7th. He passed peacefully with family and faithful dog, Sandy, at his side, comfortably in his own home, as he wished.

Gary grew up on a beautiful farm in Lee, NH. He graduated from Oyster River High School in 1971 and went on to graduate from Dennison University in 1975.

Gary went to work in sales in Cleveland Ohio for a number of years before moving to Boston and continuing in sales on the South Shore for Atlantic Tracy and ultimately Motion Industries. Gary’s love of renovating old houses took him to Hingham Mass where he bought one of the oldest homes in the area. He lived in Hingham for many years and while there completely renovated the entire house on nights and weekends.

Gary moved to Denver in late 1999 to fulfill his goal of trying a different profession in a different part of the country. While there, he founded a successful landscaping company and continued to work in sales until he retired. When the time arose, he was gracious enough to move to Tennessee and then Florida to take care of his father, George, and stepmother, Doris, through the end of their lives.

In 2012, he moved back to Madbury, NH. Naturally, he bought a fixer upper where he could spend his time renovating and reading, two of his favorite pastimes.

Gary was always ready to do more for others than he would expect for himself. He was very well read and had an interest and educated view on almost every subject.  The New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox were always on his radio or TV and we will miss our post game conversations with him. His great sense of humor enabled him to be quick with a joke and his smile lifted our spirits. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, and all around great person.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Bradford of Hampton, NH; his sister, Katherine Bradford of Portsmouth, NH; his brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Liz Bradford of Falmouth ME; nephew, Hobson Bradford of Freeport, ME; and nephew Ryan Bradford, his wife Paige, and their daughter, Avery, of Cumberland, ME.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
